Boca has a stronger architectural identity than most of South Florida. The Mediterranean-revival vocabulary that runs from the older resorts through Mizner Park gives buildings here a character that a generic hotel fragrance actively fights.
It is one of the few markets where we regularly end up developing a bespoke blend rather than choosing from the library, because the building already has a point of view and the scent has to agree with it.

Worth knowing
When the building already has a personality.
A signature scent is worth more here than in most places, because there is something to be a signature of. Stucco, terracotta, wrought iron and courtyard planting suggest a direction: dry, warm, a little herbal, nothing marine or aquatic.
Developing a bespoke blend takes longer than picking from the library, usually a few rounds over several weeks. For a single-tenant headquarters or a resort that intends to keep the same identity for a decade, it is generally worth it. For a five-year lease, it is usually not, and we will say so.
